Update 5-18-2010

This week the weather warmed up from the 40s to the 50s and now it's the 60s and it's going to be in the 70's. Good for the plants! We are finally experiencing beautiful weather out here and the old fruit trees are blooming. We planted strawberries, peas, peas, peas, corn, cucumber, cucumber, radish, lettuce, beans and asparagus. I planted an experimental tomato 4 days ago, and it's still alive! We also have baby tomatoes! Here are some pictures of the plants:

Branch of apple blooms in the morning sunlight.

A small section of another apple tree, in full bloom.

The whole tree. It's still shady; I might get a sunnier picture later.

Here are the planted strawberries. We cut holes in the plastic to plant them. The plastic serves as a mulcher and preventage of new plants, so that all of the plant's energy goes into growing fruit.

One of the plants.

Peas, peas, peas!!

Lettuce.

Here is the experimental tomato. Not so bad considering that the nights went down to 42 degrees Fahrenheit.

1 out of 3 raspberry canes. The blackberry we got was dead, so we sent a complaint to Gurnee's.

Mama's daffodils or narcissus, whichever they are. I could never tell them apart unless they're the same thing.

Ta-da! Here are the baby tomatoes!

Basil plant.

Mama's herbs. Fennel, sage, rosemary, thyme, and marjoram.

Daddy's fuschia cuttings. They weren't supposed to bloom the first year, but they went ahead and did it anyway.

Columbine seedling.

Zinnias, mixed with geraniums. Ambrose planted zinnias in the tray that was meant for Stella's geraniums. Obviously he didn't manage to remove all of his seeds.

And a pepper plant!
