New Babies

3 weeks ago we got baby chickens through 4-H. 4-H allows first time project members to get a free animal related to the project that the member signed up for. We were lucky and got 4 of each type instead of 2. We got Rhode Island Reds and Silver Laced Wyandottes.

3 week old chickens.

2 weeks ago we got baby ducks through the same program.
"I need to get out of here."

The ducks are a lot messier than chickens. They like to play in their water. They also are very "flockish" as opposed to chickens, who are rather independent at times.

And last week, Ambrose's bunny had baby bunnies!

2 day old bunnies.

5 day old bunnies!

40 and 30 year old trees come down!!

The day before yesterday and yesterday Daddy took down two 40 and 30 year old pine trees to clear our view out to the field! The first one tipped the other way than we expected it too, so Daddy finally pulled it down with our van (thanks to Uncle Dwight for the idea!) The second one came down a lot easier. Here are some pictures:
Cutting off the branches of the 40 year old one (number one.)

Here's the tree and the stump.

Here's the 40 year stump. This tree had growth spurts in its 20s.

And the trunk.

Ambrose has a go at cutting off the branches!

Hmmm... What next?

Here's the 30 year old one (number two.)

And here's the 30 year old trunk!

A view of both trunks and stumps.
